Last Night's Result
Johnny Cueto had a tough matchup last night and luckily got out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning. Unfortunately, they did not bring him out in the fifth. As far as what I count as a streaming win, the pitcher needs to go at least five innings. I am also looking for a 4.50 ERA or under. There will be exceptions such as a pitcher going five innings and three earned runs with a ton of strikeouts and low WHIP. The same goes for seven innings and four earned runs. Anyway! Cueto finished with a line of 4 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 3 K's, a 2.25 ERA, and 1.50 WHIP. Streaming Record 0-1.
Danny Duffy made some key changes towards the end of last year. He increased his changeup usage in the second half while also lowering his walk rate. The Indians certainly have a potent offense but last year they weren't anything special when facing left-handed hitters. Without a ton of options Duffy seems to be the clear streaming choice for today.
Ranking All Streamers For 7/24
1) Danny Duffy
2) Tommy Milone
3) Jeff Samardzija
4) Marco Gonzales
Analysis: Aside from Duffy I was looking at John Means and his matchup. There were talks of increased velocity in spring training but now he suddenly has a case of dead arm. Which then brought in Tommy Milone. Milone is somewhat interesting as he certainly showed flashes last year. But I am not willing to risk it with him pitching in Boston. While Samardzija and Gonzales can be serviceable at times they face two top offenses making neither of them stream worthy.
