Morning Read: Ross Stripling took the Marlins head-on and was able to put up a really nice line of six innings pitched with one earned run and 7 strikeouts. He went four-seam heavy by throwing it 63% of the time and it lead to five whiffs and 14 called strikes, a 33% CSW. My issue with the start is that he threw his curve, changeup, and slider 34 times and only attributed three whiffs. We need to see more whiffs on his breaking balls before really trusting Stripling.
Today's Streamer: I talked about Erick Fedde in-depth on our Monday morning live stream. The Phillies can be tough though so I'm going to lean towards Caleb Smith here. While I think Caleb Smith is really a one-pitch pitcher right now he does have that strikeout upside. He also takes on the Milwaukee Brewers who have a low wRC+ as of late and a high strikeout rate against left-handed pitchers.
Shallow League Option: I'm going to continue to pick on the Rangers and roll with James Kaprielian. Texas has been flat-out bad recently and their lineup isn't very scary. Nate Lowe can't hit anything right now, Adolis Garcia has cooled off, and Joey Gallo is hitting just .217. Also, can you guess who has the third-worst wRC+ at home this season? Yup, the Rangers.
Deep League Option: Caleb Smith.
Looking For Strikeouts: James Kapreilian, Caleb Smith, and Erick Fedde.
Looking For Quality Starts: James Kapreilian.
Looking For Wins: Michael King and James Kapreilian.
Looking For Ratios: Caleb Smith and James Kapreilian.
Tomorrow's Streamers: Jon Lester (if you dare)
The Day After: Tony Gonsolin and Wil Crowe.
