Morning Read: In this morning's read we are going to discuss a few people.
Wil Crowe: Coming into this game we wanted to see Wil Crowe throw his slider more than his fastball like he did in his previous start. Well, he threw his four-seam 52% of the time and only threw his slider 11 times. Could this be game planning? Perhaps. Maybe Cleveland struggles against fastballs? He did pitch okay even though he didn't reach five innings so I would still keep an eye on him.
Patrick Sandoval: I almost took him as both my main and deep league pick, but sadly stuck with him as just our deep league option. Sandoval has been fantastic. In his last three starts, he has a 32.9 K%, 1.02 WHIP, and 3.57 ERA. He is going changeup heavy and it is awesome. Last night he threw his changeup 54% of the time leading to a 38 CSW% on the pitch. He had a 37 CSW% overall and is a must-add.
David Peterson: So, uh how about this David Peterson guy? Last night we utilized all four of his pitches and while the CSW rate isn't high he did throw 4.2 innings allowing one run with six strikeouts. Since this was a seven-inning game he got pulled early. In his last two starts he has a 0.84 ERA, 0.75 WHIP. and 23.1 K%. It's a small sample and he has hurt us before so maybe we just keep watching for now?
Kolby Allard: Kolby Allard was able to handle the Twins last night pitching six innings and allowing just two runs. Allard has been pairing his four-seam with a cutter and a changeup, both of these pitches lead to above-average CSW rates against the Twins. In fact, he finished with a 33 CSW% overall. In four starts Allard holds a 2.70 ERA, 3.72 FIP, 26.3 K%, and 0.90 WHIP. Wait, what? That is super impressive and those starts weren't easy opponents. I'm not sure the strikeouts stick but everything else looks legit with Allard and in 12 team leagues I would be giving him a shot.
Today's Streamer: JT Brubaker has been very good at home this season with a 2.67 ERA. His breaking balls are working so well for him and he is doing everything you wanted to see this season. He takes on the Indians who have a middling OPS and an injury-riddled lineup.
Shallow League Option: JT Brubaker.
Deep League Option: I couldn't decide between several people so I decided to ask Twitter! Whoever wins this poll will be our deep league pick!
