Morning Read: So Cole Irvin is having quite the start. Through six starts he holds a 3.09 ERA, 2.97 FIP, and 3.64 xFIP. He is limiting home runs, limiting walks, and his BABIP is even at his career average. Last night he took on the Toronto Blue Jays and pitched eight innings with one earned run and nine strikeouts. That's wild, especially with how well the Jays have been hitting. The changeup had about five whiffs and only finished with a 24 CSW%. The four-seam had four whiffs but 11 called strikes. This is what Irvin does, he relies on painting the corners and getting those called strikes. It's risky and can certainly backfire but look how good Bassitt was last year doing the same thing. Irvin is someone you want to add if he is out there on the wire.
Today's Streamer: We are rolling with our man Yusei Kikuchi at home against the Baltimore Orioles. Kikuchi looked amazing against the Houston Astros and hopefully he can finally get rolling. Again it is all about his command. He needs to have control of that fastball. Please. The Orioles offense ain't all that but sometimes they can challenge left-handed pitchers so we shall see.
Shallow League Option: Yusei Kikuchi.
Deep League Option: If someone is facing the Tigers right now, you take them. That man tonight is Martin Perez.
Looking For Strikeouts: Yusei Kikuchi/Robbie Ray.
Looking For Quality Starts: Yusei Kikuchi/Robbie Ray.
