Morning Read: Last night Tyler Anderson was able to pitch a gem against the San Diego Padres. The overall CSW of 26.0% isn't great but he limited the hard contact. What looked best was his four-seam as it induced three whiffs and nine called strikes.
So what do we make of Tyler Anderson? So far on the season he has pitched in six starts and produced a 3.24 ERA, 3.41 FIP, and 4.18 SIERA. In other words, his underlying metrics aren't screaming regression here. Anderson isn't going to get you a lot of strikeouts but he could certainly help you in ratios. A big change he made this year was to up his cutter usage. It's a great move because he utilizes it really well and is able to induce swing and misses both inside and outside of the zone with it. If you have Anderson keep holding because, why not?
Today's Streamer: Our streamer of the week! Nick Pivetta takes on that horrible Detroit Tigers offense. They have been beyond bad with a super low OPS and wRC+ in the last seven days. Pivetta has been pitching well this season. He is starting to have better command and purposely keeping his fastball up in the zone. What is even better is the fact that Pivetta has been pitching well at home.
Shallow League Option: Nick Pivetta.
Deep League Option: We are going to roll with McClanahan as our deep league option. The fastball looked unbelievable in his last outing and although he might not go five innings the upside is there.
Looking For Strikeouts: Nick Pivetta/Shane McClanahan.
Looking For Quality Starts: Nick Pivetta/Mike Minor.
Looking For Wins: Nick Pivetta/J.A. Happ.
Looking For Ratios: Nick Pivetta/Johan Oviedo.
Tomorrow's Streamers: Yusei Kikuchi/Martin Perez.
The Day After: Madison Bumgarner/Josh Fleming
