Morning Read: Brady Singer's start against the White Sox was very interesting. He literally only threw two pitches in his sinker and slider. The thing is, it worked. His sinker had six whifss with 17 CALLED STRIKES. His slider has seven whiffs and it lead him to an overall 32 CSW%. Now obviously we don't like two pitch pitchers and that's the way Singer is trending. In my opinion I think he is just going with what works right now. His season 3.96 ERA comes with much better underlying metrics so maybe it can work, but I would guess not for long.
Today's Streamer: We have not one but two main picks! Casey Mize seems to be coming into his own and he has a solid matchup against the Seattle Mariners. A team that consistently strikes out a lot and is at the bottom of the league in wOBA and OPS against right-handed pitchers. Then we have Adbert Alzolay who draws a matchup with the Nationals. In his last two starts he has a 28.6 K-BB% with a strikeout rate over 30%. He also has an astonishing 19.6 SwStr%.
Shallow League Option: My boy Yusei Kikuchi gets the dream matchup! He is a left-handed pitcher going against an offense who is last in about every category when facing a left-handed pitcher, the Detroit Tigers. Give me Kikuchi and his last 14 days 30.8 K-BB%.
Deep League Option: Another day and another bad day for those in deep leagues. No good matchups in terms of opposing offenses but we are going to roll with the hot hand in Logan Webb. If he can get that sinker working that changeup will come along and all will be right in the world.
