Morning Read: To those who celebrate, Happy Easter! As a kid, I used to love Easter because of my infatuation with candy. Always had a sweet tooth but it is clearly my mom's fault. She would keep out this little basket of candy 24/7 and it was filled with glorious things like Gushers. Having candy available to you all day every day really helps you develop a sweet tooth. Speaking of candy we had a sour patch kids kind of stream yesterday. Maybe this will become a new term of ours? Mike Minor started off sour but then finished off sweet. He also left us a line that gives you a little bit of both flavors. While the ERA of 6.00 isn't great the WHIP was fantastic, the innings good, the strikeouts good, and he got you the win.
Today's Streamer: Tarik Skubal had a strikeout rate above 30% in every level of the minors. He came into the majors in 2020 and put up an impressive 27.6 K%. What I am trying to say is the strikeouts are for real and should always be there. The question is can he limit the hard contact and improve on that 5.63 ERA? Well, he has two great breaking balls and the one he features most is his changeup. In the off-season, Skubal decided to go to Driveline to work on that pitch. A pitch that was already above average in whiff rate. He draws an Indians offense that has proven to be lacking in scoring ability and that makes this an upside matchup.
Shallow League Option: Can Brady Singer be the one to finally tame the Rangers?
Deep League Option: Dylan Cease has become the most hyped pitcher in spring training. It's all about that command!
