Welcome back to day two of Quick Hitter! Let's not waste any time, and dive right in! The news is minimal since yesterday, but I will find the news and notes on hitters that is relevant.
News and Notes
Dylan Carlson is "disappointed" to not be included on the Opening Day roster. He did state he understood it was a "business decision." - This makes me wonder if he is up sooner rather than later. I figure he will be and should be stashed in leagues he is available. I would say 12 team mixed or deeper. Place him on your watch list at the very least.
Kike Hernandez did get the start in the first game of the season at second base. - This bodes well for him moving forward. This was the first successful streamer pick of the year!
DJ LeMahieu did not play in the Opening Day game. - This shouldn't be a long term issue. He should be back soon if even next week.
Juan Soto had multiple negative tests after the first positive COVID test. Unsure how MLB will handle this but it requires close monitoring.
Top 3 Performers From Yesterday
There will typically be five top performers to discuss, but with a two-game slate, there are only three worth noting as standouts.
Kike Hernandez - 4/5 with 2R/1HR/5RBI
Giancarlo Stanton - He was en route to a big night. Prior to rain out, he went 2-3 with 1R/1HR/3RBI. If he remains healthy, he can have a monster year.
Adam Eaton - He was the only hitter to do damage to Cole. He went 1-2 with a solo home run. Another rain-out victim.
Top Waiver Wire Target
Of the two games, Kike Hernandez is the obvious standout and would be the waiver wire target. He went 4/5 with 2R/1HR/5RBI - Big time performance here and we have seen Hernandez run hot at times. This could be the start of that type of run and playing the Giants three more times this week is never a bad thing. Currently owned in just 15% of Yahoo leagues.
Now time to get into the streams! Here is today's slate as well as tomorrow's.
Today's top streamer: Jose Martinez
Most hitters are facing their opponents best starter on Opening Day so identifying strengths is key to success streaming against any ace. Martinez is a left masher! He has a career .331/.405/.570 triple slash and LHP. He has also hit more than half his career home runs against LHP in less than half the at-bats he's had against RHP.
With hitters always being moved in and out of the lineup, the back up stream of the day is Jordan Luplow. Should get to face Danny Duffy and he is a lefty masher as well.

Tomorrow's Pick: Jesse Winker
