News and Notes
Hunter Dozier placed on IL and diagnosed with COVID. - This is unfortunate. Ultimately, I would bet on Bubba Starling getting most of the available at-bats. I already bought into Franchy Cordero playing every day but this should solidify any doubts.
Kris Bryant should be good to go for Opening Day after being scratched from last night's exhibition game.
Austin Barnes will start Opening Day for the Dodgers. - It is said Will Smith will be the primary catcher and catch 3 out of every 5 games. This can easily shift and requires monitoring.
Jake Fraley was optioned to the Taxi squad. - Well, I don't think any of us saw that coming. This really hurts his value and he is drop-able in the leagues he is rostered.
Brendan Rodgers optioned to alternate training site. - This should help clear up some playing time for Garrett Hampson. Although, the Rockies didn't even get him starting reps in the summer camp games.
Jorge Mateo placed on IL. - He was an interesting add late in draft season after the trade. Unsure as to timetable for return but could be worth placing on your watch list to see how things shape up upon his return.
J.D. Martinez may hit 2nd this season. - They mentioned they like the idea of it and he did hit there for both of the exhibition games. You drafted him to be a four-category producer and although he will still be one, this does hurt his RBI production slightly. Again, assuming they follow through with this idea.
