Outside the box is a daily article that is simple, fresh, and innovative. Here, we will be walking throw-away pitchers to the pedestal for a quick examination of their skills.
On The Pedestal: Adrian Houser
Current ADP: 470
Brief Examination: Adrian Houser came into 2020 as somewhat of a hyped pitcher but he quickly tempered those expectations by finishing the season with a 5.30 ERA.
Houser is known for his two stellar fastballs in his four-seam and sinker. What happened was he lost command of that four-seam and it gave up a ton of hard contact. The good thing is it still produced a good amount of whiffs and can easily get back to being a successful pitch.
The main worry with Houser is the lack of breaking balls. His curveball, slider, and changeup all lacked in providing much hope. One of these has to step forward for Houser to take the next step.
Interesting Stat: Houser has a career average 54.3 GB% and 4.7 Barrel%.
Role: With a good defense behind him, Houser becomes an intriguing option late in drafts as a shot in the dark. Grab him in your streamer spot and see what he gives you, worst case you can just drop him.
