The MLB Regular Season ends on Sunday, October 3rd – giving us 35 more days before our fantasy leagues are decided. As a result, the frequency of our posts are now twice per week and we are including short reviews of all 43 Main Event Leagues.
In case you’re thinking of complaining about your win probability, please remember that the sophisticated estimations of the likelihood of victory utilize a Cray supercomputer with a secret – highly accurate - formula = just trust me, OK?
For today’s article we’ll examine six leagues total - all drafted online between 3/27 and 3/29 (#1506; #1508; #1531; #1535; #1536; #1537). Only one team out of the 90 total participating in these six Main Event leagues is in the top 20 of the overall standings - but that team is ranked #1 overall!
All standings information is as of Sunday 8/29 (AM), so it may not exactly line up with the Monday 8/30 AM standings at the end of this article.
MAIN EVENT #1506: 3/28 ONLINE – ROBOTIC SURGERY
Ø Who led this league? Scott Waggener (4/4); Philippe Dussault (4/11; 4/25-8/30); Anthony Palavis (4/18)
Ø League Summary: This one’s pretty easy to summarize – Philippe has been in front since April 25th and there’s not a lot of intrigue about who’s winning this league. It looks like Scott Waggener and Jody Ryan are fighting for second and third, but the real contest is Philippe’s quest for a Main Event Championship – stay tuned!
MAIN EVENT #1508: 3/28 ONLINE – YES SIREE BRO
Ø Who led this league? Mary Ann Lonigro (4/4); Mark Srebro (4/11; 4/25; 6/6-8/30); Michael O’Brien (4/18; 5/2; 5/30); Al Williams (5/9-5/23)
Ø League Summary: There was a good bit of lead changing in April and May, but on June 6th Mark Srebro took over for good, and now has his largest lead of the season – 16.5 points. He looks good for the win here, with perhaps four teams in contention for second and third – Greg Lathrop; Joseph Morrow; Daniel Semsel; and Al Williams.
MAIN EVENT #1531: 3/27 ONLINE – SPORER WANTS TO SCORER MORER
Ø Who led this league? Daniel DaSilva (4/4); Robert DiPietro (4/11); James Gabal (4/18-4/25); Brent Grooms (5/2; 7/4-8/1); Paul Sporer (5/9-6/27; 8/8-8/29)
Ø League Summary: James Gabal had a two-week run in April before Paul Sporer took over in May and June. Then when Sporer slowed a bit, Brent Grooms held the lead for all of July. But Sporer came back strong and now has his largest lead when it matters most – with four or five contenders hoping to make a move – Grooms; Gabal; Bob Mazur and DiPietro.
MAIN EVENT #1535: 3/29 ONLINE – BEND IT LIKE BECKMAN
Ø Who led this league? Michael Wallis (4/4); Aaron Jones (4/11-4/25); Bradley Beckman (5/2-5/23; 6/20; 7/4; 7/18-8/1); Matthew Davis (5/30-6/13; 6/27; 7/11); John Pausma (8/8-8/30)
Ø League Summary: Bradley Beckman and Matthew Davis were trading the league and fighting for first all the way from May through July, but John Pausma never stopped fighting and slipped past them in early August. But this one is SO CLOSE – perhaps the closest Main Event league. Anyone in the top 7 could still win and maybe even Gary Allen in 8th has a shot. Good luck predicting this one! Ø For example, Beckman had the lead Sunday AM and Pausma has it Monday AM!
MAIN EVENT #1536: 3/29 ONLINE – NED’S AHEAD
Ø Who led this league? Eric Heberlig (4/4); N
